Alex Toh has been active contributor in the local ICT scene, being the President of Mobile Alliance, an association whose mission is to foster a vibrant mobile ecosystem in Singapore, Alex is also on the Executive Committee of Singapore Inforcomm Technology Federation (SITF's) Wireless Chapter. Apart from assisting in being the voice of the local ICT industry, Alex also serves as a mentor to the federation's SMP (SITF Mentorship Program) where he mentors start ups in the program. Alex is also an angel investor of several promising technological start ups playing an active role in each of them and is currently in the midst of setting up a business accelerator.
Alex graduated from National University Of Singapore, School of Computing, he started his entreprenuerial journey while skipping Java programing lectures, choosing instead to start his own VRML startup providing internet users the ability to design their homes online in 3D, selling it off in 2001 to private investors. In 2002, he started Deca Solutions, a software house which developed Enterprise Resource Planning systems, targeting mid-size enterprises.
In 2004, Alex merged Deca with Asiasoft Global, a virtualization and document management system integrator with presence around Asia. He transformed the company into a software powerhouse with R&D centers in China and a staff of 200 around the region with revenues doubling annually.
In 2007, he negotiated the acquisition of Asiasoft by Top Image Systems, a Document Imaging company listed on NASDAQ stock exchange and served as their Vice President for Asia Pacific. Since then, he has been cooking up new ventures in mobile, cloud computing and cleantech fields etc, craving for the next big thing once again.
